Presented new sustainability report
Milan Stock Exchange-listed international company Biesse recently unveiled its new 2023 Sustainability Report – a comprehensive report highlighting the company’s achievements in economic, social and environmental sustainability.
In 2022, Biesse spa signed a supplementary contract for “Smart Working”, which allows employees to work in hybrid form at the company even after the pandemic period. Furthermore, in continuity with last year, the company maintained the ISO 45001:2018 safety management system. In this context, around 10,000 hours were spent on health and safety topics, to which must be added some training on sustainability issues to make employees aware of the path they are taking.
The machinery specialist is committed to the community by supporting various projects for the education of children and young students. In particular, the branch in India has supported several educational initiatives this year to ensure a suitable place and courses for the education of young students.
Biesse has continued on its path of environmental sustainability and this year has improved its environmental performance: this has been rewarded with ISO 14001:2015 certification for its environmental management system; it is also constantly working to improve the energy efficiency of its facilities and to purchase electricity from renewable sources with a certificate of origin for Italian companies. In addition, the headquarters in Pesaro was equipped with 16,500 square metres of photovoltaic panels, avoiding 787 tonnes of CO2.
In the area of materials management, Diamut, the company’s brand for the production of tools for working glass, natural and artificial stone and ceramics, has defined a new cobalt-free binder that is used for all products in the range. The advantage for customers lies in the savings in disposal costs that are incurred when processing the material.
Biesse demonstrated its latest efforts in terms of sustainability at the “Ligna” trade fair in May with the presentation of “HFS”, a new type of system for gluing edges using hydrogen as an energy source. Technological innovation and environmental friendliness merge into a successful whole.
