This is why the acquisition in the USA was so important
Egger has recently not only taken over the majority of the Italian company Saib but has also made an acquisition in the USA with Novem Industries. “With this investment, we are broadening our raw material base through the use of recycled wood in Lexington and can thus further expand our efforts in terms of the circular economy,” Michael Egger Jr. told “möbelfertigung.” “At our Lexington, NC mill, we just began commissioning a new recycling facility in early March. We can ideally supply this with wood thanks to this acquisition. This will allow us to put the recycled packaging wood from the region that we collect at the new site to a material use and in turn manufacture high-quality products from it.”
The Austrian materials specialist is very pleased with the way it has already been able to establish itself on the US market. “We have now been on site as a local producer since the fall of 2020 and have already learned the market realities,” Egger said. “We were able to start up our third short-cycle press at our Lexington, NC (US) mill, and we will be impregnating the paper for coating on site starting this summer.”
In the current issue of “möbelfertigung”, you can read how Michael Egger Jr. assesses the overall economic situation for his company and how he deals with the critical reporting on illegal logging in Romania.
