The Zimmer Group, the world’s leading expert in automation technology, is celebrating the opening of its new production site in Jintan in the Sino-German (Changzhou) Innovation Industry Park (SGIP). The new building marks an important milestone in the company’s international expansion strategy and underlines the Zimmer Group’s commitment to the Chinese market.

The new plant comprises a modern infrastructure of 26,640 square meters, whereby the building area of the first construction phase is 9,911 square meters. Jintan, known as “the blessed land south of the Yangtze River”, is the youngest, most dynamic and promising new urban area in Changzhou. In recent years, Jintan has always adhered to the concept of “industrial and project powerhouse”, consistently developing the real economy and continuously strengthening and expanding the “five new industries” represented by new energy, new infrastructure, new energy vehicles, new medicine and new intelligence.

Achim Gauss, Managing Director of the Zimmer Group, emphasized the importance of the new production facility in his opening speech: “The Jintan site not only offers us economic advantages, but also the opportunity to network with other German companies and local educational institutions. With this strategic decision, we are strengthening our ability to respond quickly to customer requests and deliver high-quality products from local production.”

The Zimmer Group has been active in China since 2009 and has continuously expanded in recent years as part of a rolling 5-year strategy. The new location in Jintan strengthens the Zimmer Group’s presence in China and forms the basis for further growth and innovation. In addition, the region offers a broad university landscape in the field of mechanical engineering as well as a German-speaking school that supports the sustainable personnel growth of the Zimmer Group in China.

The Zimmer Group is thus continuing the ongoing expansion of its portfolio and the development of new capacities as the core of its international expansion strategy. The new plant will offer customized solutions and automation technology that meet the Zimmer Group’s high standards.
