Raid on Romanian plant

As reported by “Profil” and “Der Spiegel”, the Romanian judiciary recently carried out numerous searches – one of Egger’s plants was also affected.

The reason for the raids: the suspicion of business with illegally felled wood. There were probably 146 house searches in numerous companies and private residences.

Egger emphasized to “Profil” that the Romanian judiciary had no accusations against Egger Romania or its employees. Specifically, various wood suppliers are under suspicion, which also supply Egger, among others.
Egger has handed over all the requested documents to the authorities and emphasizes that it is an advocate of sustainable forestry. Thus, the company not only complies with European and national legislation, but also follows additional certification systems.
