Opens subsidiary in Turkey

SCM, which claims to be the world’s leading manufacturer of secondary woodworking machinery, is expanding its presence in the Turkish market with the opening of SCM Turkey in the Istanbul area.

The investment in this new subsidiary, with 100 percent Italian capital (as of 2021), has the purpose of offering a direct, nationwide sales network and technical support to all players in the sector, from artisans to large companies, at every level of customer relations, from pre-sales to after-sales.

SCM has been operating in the Turkish market for years and has collaborated with the main distributors in the country to provide a wide range of products and services for all woodworking application areas: Furniture Industry, Window and Door Manufacturing, Timber Construction and Craft Industries.

The opening of SCM Turkey is another step forward in this long-standing partnership, taken to serve the needs of an ever-growing and even more specialized market.

“The needs of local companies have changed greatly in recent years, and the importance of automation and innovation is now unmistakably clear to all,” said Umut Erkan, SCM Turkey Country Manager. Manufacturers in the wood processing industry, and especially local companies in the furniture industry, are investing large amounts of money to modernize their plants and make their processes more digital, efficient and flexible. Responding to the demands of this change, SCM has decided to invest in Turkey in order to be even closer to customers in the future, supporting their new business ventures with “turnkey” and state-of-the-art technologies and offering even more direct customer service.”

As a machine manufacturer with the widest range of products for the entire woodworking industry – as the group says about itself – SCM now intends to complement its product excellence with first-class local service in light of these market developments.

The opening of SCM Turkey is part of a strategic plan based on unified, steady investment, with an increasingly widespread professional presence worldwide and the expansion of its branch and dealer network to ensure that the best expertise is always available for all technologies and software applications related to panels, solid wood and joinery.

SCM will present the new branch for the Turkish market in cooperation with its dealer Teknomak at the upcoming “Woodtech Woodworking Machinery Fair” from October 9 to 13 at the Tüyap Exhibition and Congress Center in Istanbul.
