New dual leadership

On January 1, 2023 Martin Scherrer will become a new member of the Siempelkamp Group’s management board. In addition, as of July 2023 he will succeed Dr. Martin Stark, who most recently successfully led the Group, as spokesman of the management board.

Already in October 2022 Martin Sieringhaus will become the new CFO of the Siempelkamp Group and will succeed the long-standing commercial managing director Elisabeth Bienbeck-Ketelhohn. She will retire from the company after the end of the 2022 financial year in March 2023.

Martin Scherrer joins from AstenJohnson, a supplier to the paper industry, where he most recently led the business as President Eurasia.

“We are pleased that with Martin Scherrer and Martin Sieringhaus we were able to gain two internationally very experienced and successful managers in plant engineering and service for the Siempelkamp Group. Scherrer brings extensive experience in strategic development and the implementation of change processes. Sieringhaus also managed the commercial aspects of extensive change initiatives,” says Bertram Staudenmaier Chairman of the Siempelkamp Advisory Board.

Martin Scherrer studied economics at the Justus Liebig University in Gießen. After graduation he joined Voith Sulzer in Schio, Italy, where he was in charge of controlling, finance, and purchasing. After holding various management positions at Voith Paper in Indonesia and Brazil, Martin Scherrer returned to Voith in Germany as Executive Vice President Finance & Controlling for Voith Paper’s Fabrics Division. In 2005, he was appointed Senior Vice President EMEA for the Fabrics Division.

Until 2008, Martin Scherrer had already been a member of the Management Board of the Group’s Paper Division for one year, responsible for the Fabrics Division. After the merger of the two divisions Fabrics and Rolls in 2009 to “Fabric & Roll Systems”, he took over the operational management of the new division as Chief Operating Officer. In 2011, he was appointed CFO and Executive Vice President and Managing Member of the Voith Paper Group Division, and in 2014 he assumed responsibility for the Fabric & Roll Systems business line. In 2019, he moved to AstenJohnson, where he led the business in Europe and Asia.

Martin Sieringhaus holds a degree in industrial engineering – specializing in controlling and mechanical engineering – and studied at the Technical University in Kaiserslautern. In 1999, he started his career at Voith Turbo as Assistant to the Board of Management and in the next step became Head of Controlling of the Industry Division. In 2006, he then moved to the Paper Division as CFO and Vice President for many years. During this time, he was responsible for the Voith Paper Asia business as CFO in Shanghai for 3 years. Subsequently, Mr. Sieringhaus led a global project for the Voith Board of Management and became CFO and Executive Vice President as well as Managing Director of the Voith Digital Group Division in 2016. Finally, in 2018, he became CFO and Executive Vice President of the Voith Turbo Group Division, responsible for Finance & Controlling, IT & Processes and Purchasing.

“For the many years of dedication and commitment, the advisory board of Siempelkamp GmbH & Co. KG would like to thank Elisabeth Bienbeck-Ketelhohn. Likewise, a big thank you goes to Dr. Martin Stark for the successful management of the Group in the last three years and for the many optimization measures and priorities set in the area of business processes and digitalization. The Advisory Board wishes them both all the best for the future. With the strong dual leadership we can successfully continue the new transformation path and lead the Siempelkamp Group into the future,” explains Dr. Dieter Siempelkamp, Honorary Chairman of the Advisory Board.
