Investment in the future: digitization boost and new machine technology

The company received a boost to digitization at its two sites through the expansion of broadband. Within a short time, a fiber optic connection was implemented at the Hennersdorf (Saxony) site. This was possible because Rosskopf + Partner was able to win the Erzgebirgsbahn for this project. Together with the city of Augustusburg and Eins Energie in Sachsen GmbH & Co. KG, the fiber optic expansion was implemented quickly and easily. Investments were also made in the network expansion at the main location in Obermehler (Thuringia), so that the company now has a bandwidth of 300 Mbit/s at its disposal.

For a long time now, data exchange has no longer been sufficient to meet the increased requirements for data volumes and speed. The broadband expansion thus enables more efficient cooperation between the two locations and thus also better processing of customer orders. “As the largest employer in the region, with around 100 employees at each of the two locations, the company has taken a decisive step into the future,” stated Helmut Roßkopf, CEO of Rosskopf + Partner AG.

However, the digitalization of business processes is of little use if the technical infrastructure is lagging behind. The company in Hennersdorf, for example, has invested in a new, more powerful and faster 5-axis CNC machine to meet the increased production requirements and capacities. This enables longer solid surface material parts for facades and interior fittings, such as blanks for 3D-formed counters and wall cladding, to be milled precisely. In the course of the acquisition, the production layout of the plant was also optimized by arranging machines and workstations more efficiently.

In Obermehler, where mainly material such as quartz and natural stone is processed, a new edge grinding machine was purchased. The investment and automation became necessary due to the increased capacity and precision requirements in the Kitchen and Bathroom Division. This will enable even better compliance with low tolerance specifications from customers. Workpieces with a material thickness of three to 30 millimeters can be processed much faster thanks to the throughfeed automation.

Overall, Helmut Roßkopf draws a positive balance: “Increasing demand, digitalization and competitive pressure require continuous improvement of our processes. This also includes investing in the company and making it fit for the future. With the expansion of the Internet and the two new machines, we have taken an important step in this direction”.
