Mobile Robots in Production: Mesh-Up 2025
At Automatica 2025, various mobile robots, connected to a master controller via VDA 5050, will demonstrate the potential for automation in production and logistics. More and more companies are focusing on automating their production supply. However, integrating mobile robots for transport tasks into the existing infrastructure is no easy task – especially when different devices with different load carriers are to be used on the same routes. The associated IT integration is highly complex.
The open communication interface VDA 5050 offers a possible approach to simplifying integration. With the specifications defined in VDA 5050, mobile robots from different manufacturers can be integrated into a master control software. This is exactly what a total of nine companies will be demonstrating at the Mobile Robots in Production: Mesh-Up 2025 showcase. The master control system will be provided by MHP Management- und IT-Beratung GmbH.
The mixed fleet of mobile robots will be provided by Bosch Rexroth AG, dpm Daum + Partner Maschinenbau GmbH, ek robotics GmbH, Fraunhofer IML, Kuka AG, Omron Electronics GmbH and Safelog GmbH. For the first time, an independent system service provider will also be on board at the Mesh-Up for Automatica, which will introduce visitors to the trade fair to project handling with various partners for an automation project. ProLog Automation GmbH & Co. KG is actively involved in the project preparation and implementation for the Mesh-Up and supports the participating companies with its expertise.
At stand 330 in hall B4, visitors can expect to see a stylized production setup with different workstations that are supplied by the various mobile robots. The main aim is to show the possible automated process interlinking. Visitors to the trade fair can see how full and empty load carriers are transported and transferred by different devices along a production process. Both underride and forklift vehicles for pallet transport and mobile robots that transport small load carriers will be in use.
The mesh-up at Automatica will not be demonstrating live that flexibility in the choice of supplier using VDA 5050 applies not only to the robots themselves, but also to the software. However, users can already choose from a variety of different master control software for their individual requirements. In addition to the live demonstration with the control system from MHP, Flexus AG, another VDMA member company that can implement fleet control with VDA 5050, will be represented in the joint area of the Mesh-Up.
