Closes subsidiary Dakor melamine impregnations

The lights are going out for good at Dakor in Heroldstatt: Surteco Group SE has made the decision to close its subsidiary Dakor Melamin Imprägnierungen GmbH (Dakor) after a thorough review. The production of high-quality melamine impregnates for the furniture and interior design industry will cease on May 30, 2025.

Dakor was founded in 1995, is now part of the Surteco Group and has long been an established manufacturer in the market. The decision to close the plant is the result of persistently challenging market conditions and the effects of European sanctions against Russia, which have significantly reduced sales volumes. An economically viable continuation of the site is therefore no longer possible, according to the Surteco Group’s press release.

“This was not an easy decision for us. Our focus is now on making the transition as smooth as possible for our employees, customers and suppliers,” says Robert Vancko, Head of Business Unit Surfaces. “We would like to thank our long-standing partners for their trust and good cooperation.”

In the course of the planned restructuring, it is important to Surteco to provide the 73 employees affected with the best possible support. The works council is actively involved in the process. Together with the management, we are working hard to find a fair and transparent solution. The interests of the employees are always at the center of this process.

Surteco is committed to fulfilling all existing obligations and continuing to guarantee the high quality and the usual standard of service. Customers and suppliers will be contacted directly to clarify open questions and possible alternatives.
