279 million Euro turnover in 2018
In 2018, the IMA Schelling Group generated sales of 279 million euros - an increase of six percent over the previous year. The good order situation in the first half of 2018 and the increasing demand for the Group's service products and services contributed to this. Production in the first half of the year was hampered by long delivery times for parts procurement. However, this situation returned to normal in the second half of the financial year. Wolfgang Rohner, Managing Director of the IMA Schelling Group, expressed his satisfaction with the development: "We are satisfied with the overall development of the group, but in parts we must continue to grow together".
The new production halls with large assembly areas for the commissioning of the machines and plants manufactured are making a contribution to this. These contribute to streamlining processes and offer customers the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the system at an early stage.
The development of new markets is also an important part of the operative business for the IMA Schelling Group. "In the last three to four years, North America has been particularly exciting. Spain and Italy as well," said Wolfgang Rohner.
"Due to the turbulent political situation worldwide, after a long phase of general economic upswing since the end of 2018, a slowdown in the economy is becoming apparent. As a result, the activities of our market are also normalizing. Nevertheless, automated solutions continue to be in strong demand, especially in our core European market," says Andreas Bischoff, Managing Director of IMA Klessmann GmbH, with an outlook for the 2019 financial year.
Service will play an even greater role in the group's future strategy. "We are striving for partnerships instead of individual services," explains Maximilian Lehner, Managing Director Sales at IMA Klessmann. To this end, the number of employees in the service area was increased by nine percent to 370. The IMA Schelling Group currently employs a total of 1,620 people. Particularly in the core areas - robotics, plant control, service and assembly - the group intends to continue to expand its workforce.
At the "Ligna" in Hanover, the IMA Schelling Group will present solutions for edge processing and transport technology as well as current further developments in cutting on more than 2,640 square metres. The IoT platform, which was launched last year and is now ready for the market, will also be presented in detail to the specialist public.
