On November 22nd, the South African wood-based panel producer PG Bison signed the contract for the purchase of its fourth Siempelkamp plant within 15 years. Thus, the annual production output of these four plants will clearly exceed the mark of one million m\u00b3.<\/p>\n
The order includes a press line with ContiRoll in the 6′ x 38.7 m format for the production of MDF, LMDF, and HDF in a thickness range from 3.0 to 35 mm. Pallmann, the size reduction specialist within the Siempelkamp Group, will contribute a chipping line including a drum chipper and a refiner, while Siempelkamp subsidiary B\u00fcttner will supply a dryer and an energy plant.<\/p>\n
This project will be the fourth Siempelkamp plant which PG Bison has ordered from its German preferred supplier. The successful cooperation started with the first greenfield particleboard plant which PG Bison ordered for its Ugie location in 2006. In 2012, the contract for an MDF plant in Boksburg was signed, and in 2015 for a second particleboard plant for Piet Retief. With the planned annual production capacity of the new MDF plant of more than 275,000 m\u00b3 per year, this new project will push PG Bison\u2019s total installed capacity of more than 1 million m\u00b3 per annum across its three production plants.<\/p>\n
The additional new plant in Piet Retief will source its raw materials from local sustainable plantations in the surrounding areas. In the Eastern Cape PG Bison is operating its own FSC certified plantations, the timber is used to primarily supply its own board production plant in Ugie. The company with over 120 years of experience is clearly committed to sustainability. In addition to raw board production, PG Bison operates several added value lines in the area of melamine faced board production and direct hot coating lines. Additionally, the company produces its own resin and is operating two paper impregnation lines. The products produced by PG Bison are used mainly in the production of kitchen units, built-in cabinets, and office furnishings. PG Bison\u2019s vision is \u201cTo inspire and enable beautiful living spaces\u201d.<\/p>\n
“My first project as a sales representative and the first order for Siempelkamp in 2006 was to realize the first plant for PG Bison with my colleague Erwin Scholz as a greenfield project in Ugie. In this respect, the new order is a special pleasure for me because it gives me the opportunity to work again with a special customer and his experienced team,” says Ulrich Kaiser, Head of Sales Siempelkamp.<\/p>\n
Immediately after signing the contract, Sicoplan, Siempelkamp’s planning team from Belgium, started the engineering processes with a 3D scan at the Piet Retief location. In this way, the new MDF plant is planned into the existing plant structure at the location in the best possible way and with the most modern technology.<\/p>\n
Siempelkamp subsidiaries B\u00fcttner and CMC are also already active on site. To increase the capacity of the existing particleboard plant from 2015, the first B\u00fcttner chipboard drum dryer and the first B\u00fcttner energy plant for PG Bison are in the final assembly steps. CMC Texpan, Siempelkamp frontend specialist from Italy, supplied new glue blenders and dosing bins.
