Plant V in Saarlouis is opened

Even though the opening ceremony had to be rather small due to Corona, Nobilia’s Plant V in Saarlouis was officially opened today. All the important people were there: in addition to Dr. Lars Bopf as Chairman of the Nobilia Management Board, Minister President Tobias Hans, his deputy Anke Rehlinger and the Lord Mayor of Saarlouis, Peter Demmer. The symbolic start button was pressed by Nobilia owner Werner Stickling.

It took almost exactly two years since the ground-breaking ceremony for the large-scale project to be completed on a production area of 105,000 square metres. Industrialisation and the first test runs have been completed in the 600-metre-long and 250-metre-wide factory hall. To start with, there are 100 employees who get the assembly lines running with about 100 kitchens a day. And as usual for Nobilia, there is a lot of high-tech involved. In the final stage of expansion, around 1,000 employees are expected to complete over 1,600 commissions. The total cost of the plant is 200 million euros.

As is well known, the proximity to France, the most important foreign market, was decisive for the choice of location, and Plant V in the “Lisdorfer Berg” industrial estate offers perfect logistical conditions, as Dr. Bopf emphasised. The site as a whole covers 290,000 square metres and is thus expected to offer further potential for expansion.

Plant V is an important milestone for Nobilia to ensure further company growth, as was emphasised once again on the occasion of the opening today. In addition to the development abroad, this also includes the expansion of the product portfolio beyond kitchens to bathroom and living room furniture. At present, additional staff is being sought for Saarlouis, both for production and for the vehicle fleet installed here.

Based on the modular planning, the production volume is now being gradually ramped up. How quickly the number of commissions grows depends on the market and demand situation, explained Dr Bopf.
