First “Saturn Digital Printing Line” for decor paper commissioned in the pilot plant

In mid-December, the time had come in Westphalia: digital printing system manufacturer Hymmen from Bielefeld successfully installed the first “Saturn Digital Printing Line” in its technical center. It is now ready for production.

“Saturn” is an industrial digital printing line with water-based inks that can be integrated into customers’ existing production processes. It is a standard machine that offers high-tech components at an affordable price and guarantees efficient decentralized production at the desired quality level. According to Hymmen, it is “…a breakthrough in the production of digitally printed decor paper.” Hymmen worked closely with Ricoh for the development.

“Saturn” was designed to move the printing process closer to the end of the value chain. Unlike many other applications, the machine is designed to meet the actual needs of the production facility. With the required capacity, the system unlocks all the benefits of digital printing. Lower energy consumption, easier paper drying and higher reliability due to reduced complexity are the positive side effects.
