Establishes production site in China

Greater customer proximity and competitive strength in the world’s largest adhesives market: these are the strategic goals with which Detmold-based Jowat SE established Jowat China Adhesives Co. Ltd. in the summer of 2022, a wholly owned subsidiary. Now the foundation stone has been laid for the operation of the new production site in Dushan, Pinghu City, Jiaxing, Zhejiang Province, China. On a 17,300 square meter site, a modern research and development center is being built there in addition to a production hall and warehouse.

The Chinese market is becoming increasingly important for Jowat. Business there already accounts for more than ten percent of the manufacturer’s total business. In order to be able to serve high-volume sales areas with high competitive pressure even more successfully in the future, the production landscape and supply chains for this important target market are now being systematically optimized.

“With our commitment and investment in China, we are also setting an important course for opening up new markets that have their production focus here, such as the growth market of “consumer electronics,” states Dr. Ralf Schelbach, Vice President Asia Pacific of Jowat SE. “More than 80 percent of these products are produced in China. If we want to meet the specific customer requirements of this industry in the best possible way with strong development services and rapid market maturity, the establishment of local product developments is a necessary prerequisite. Sustainable adhesive solutions will also play an important role here in the future.”

The new building of the Jowat Adhesives Center in China, covering more than 11,000 square meters, is scheduled for completion by the end of 2023. If everything goes according to plan, production will start on Chinese New Year 2024.
