Emission targets exceeded again
The Swedish office specialist Kinnarps has published the latest edition of its sustainability report “The Better Effect” and once again set its sustainability goals higher. In addition to the efficient and environmentally friendly use of resources, sustainability at the company also includes products that can be renewed and reused as well as sustainable logistics and delivery. Well thought-out, flexible and multifunctional interior design solutions should be designed for longevity and promote well-being.
As a result, the self-imposed CO2 emission reduction targets for 2020 were not only met, but exceeded: instead of the targeted 35 percent, Kinnarps achieved a 47 percent reduction. The main contributors to this success are Kinnarps’ switch to renewable diesel fuel and the investment in a gas-powered truck. By 2025, CO2 emissions from the transport of products are to be reduced by 70 percent. A reduction of 30 per cent is planned for CO2 emissions generated by payment transactions.
Kinnarps also exceeded the targets for the use of solvents, reducing them by 57 percent. Energy consumption was reduced by 19 percent.
Further steps towards even more sustainability include a test run of a circular rental model that focuses on the longevity of the products. In addition, new sustainable materials have been developed, such as a synthetic leather and products made from waste or a table top made from recycled plastic bottles.
